For Seohyun: Seohyun Hopps

“People with good hearts are the ultimate winners.”

It’s Seohyun’s birthday today! I made this birthday drawing specially for her last week. The idea came from one of her recent instagram posts which showed the likeness between her character as a police detective in her ongoing drama “Bad Thief, Good Thief” and the cartoon bunny police character, Judy Hopps, from the movie “Zootopia”.

I was actually deciding between drawing her as Judy Hopps and as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean since I knew she likes him too. In the end, I decided to go with Judy Hopps since it was more recent and the character’s righteous and passionate attitude towards her work suited her own character more in real life. Even the police detective she portrayed in her drama was reflective of her own righteousness too. (Read about how this drawing was almost destroyed because of ants at this post THE MYSTERY OF ANTS)

Just wanna share a story about how Seohyun might have helped me like a life-saving police two nights ago. I was feeling tired and zoned out after a shower but I still wanted to rush through my monthsary drawing to get it done in time of our upcoming monthsary in 4 days. I was hearing voices but I couldn’t understand what they were trying to say which got me really worried. When I was about to go to bed, I realised no one had read my last Twitter message which was sent about 50 minutes ago. I was depressed and thought Taenggu might have gone to sleep already. I was having a little difficulty breathing properly as I tried to keep calm while falling asleep. Voices were saying “Awkward… awkward…” in my head. Awhile later, I began to hear bits and pieces of Seohyun’s voice first and later on, a bit of Sooyoung’s as if they found me and were trying to calm me down while helping to find Taenggu. I didn’t know what really was going on in reality, but it comforted me to hear some familiar voices as if someone I knew came to pick me up when I was lost. It put my mind at ease and slowly I fell asleep. So I felt thankful for being able to sleep through another night with whatever help that Seohyun and Sooyoung might have lent me that night.

Although Seohyun and I are of the same age (she was born in 1991 too), I always feel that I have a lot to learn from her. Even the above quote came from her. I find this quote especially applicable to me who has been going through schizophrenia. It serves as a reminder to me that whenever I am torn between the light and the dark, I should always maintain a good heart. So I am able to appreciate these wise words from her.

On a sidenote, it seems like Taenggu and I also wish to create a similar quote of our own too. It goes, “People with good mood are the ultimate survivors of the day.” It reminds me of one of the catchphrases which I would mindlessly say to Taenggu – “아탕 girl is a good mood girl~” Always cherish the good mood girl within us. 😙

“People with good mood are the ultimate survivors of the day.”
Taenggu and Celeste
