As May 4th, also widely known as Star Wars Day due to the pun on its catchphrase “May the Force be with you” as “May the Fourth be with you”, was fast approaching, I pondered about making a Star Wars themed artwork but was kind of keeping it in view first as there wasn’t any particular motivation for me to do it initially. It was only on April 27th when it was finally announced that Taeyeon will be releasing her new song “Happy” on May 4th that there was a sudden drive for me to do it.
[INFO] SM confirms that #Taeyeon will release '#Happy' on May 4. It was originally supposed to be released on March 9 but was postponed due to her father passing away.
She's going through a lot, but will still release it for us… Thank you 💜https://t.co/VvqyjEreOo #태연 pic.twitter.com/Ivj93dleTS

Previously, there wasn’t any particular link between the idea of Star Wars and Taenggu herself, which was a major reason why I hesitated a lot. Even if I were to make something Star Wars related purely to sell on Carousell on May 4th, it wouldn’t seem to work too. But now suddenly with the announcement, Heaven seemed to be paving the way for me to really do a Star Wars artwork that could now connect with the new release date of Taeyeon’s “Happy”!
However considering there were only a few days left, instead of a usual traditional artwork with handmade crafts, I opted for some quick, simple fan edits, something I hadn’t done for quite a long time. (View my previous fan edits of Taeyeon at Category: Fan Edits)
I had a few ideas. One was to have a stormtrooper sitting on a chair next to Taeyeon in one of her teaser photos for “Happy”.
Others were focused on the prominent weapon that was used in Star Wars movies – a lightsaber.

When I think of lightsabers, I recalled that a few years ago Girls’ Generation had used lightsabers as dance props for their performance of “T.O.P” on concert tours. It was certainly one of the most memorable performances I had watched from their concerts back then. Waving around their lightsabers in various combat moves, they exuded so much girl power in it. Let’s relive our memories of their awe-inspiring performance (Taeyeon focused) of T.O.P in the video below! 😍
And so, I found a couple of really awesome photos of Taenggu holding her lightsaber at the concerts and edited in the words by myself. Credits to the original owners of these photos. 😊
Hahaha doesn’t Taenggu look like a brave Jedi warrior ready to defend her TY universe?? 😆
May the Force be with you always, Taenggu! 💪🏼
And we are all ready to be #HAPPYwithTaeyeon at 6pm KST tonight too!!
Edited with love,
Celeste Koh
